Why Square Stripping Floors Wins With Me.
When it comes to stripping floors, everyone knows, it is a complete pain. You have to buy floor stripper, neutralizer, have buckets of water on hand and several mops and handle setups. Then there is the whole process of applying stripper, letting it set, agitating it and then scrubbing the floor. Once this is all done, you may or may not have the floor stripped, so you usually have to go back and repeat the process over again. Ugh!
After you are confident that you have removed all of the finish and floor sealer, then it is time to rinse the floor. If you do not rinse the floor, the very expensive finish will look bad, not last and the entire job will have to be done again sooner than needed or desired.
With a square floor scrubber machine and a surface prep pad, this is no longer the case. The process of a square scrubber is much easier and takes far less time, resources and less risk.
Whether you are using an auto-scrubber with a square scrub deck or a single disk, upright version, the key to stripping floors is the surface prep pad. 3M was the leader in this technology but others have followed with comparable products. Make sure the pad has the grit impregnated in the the fibers and is not sprayed on. The spray on versions will work but not nearly as well. They are less money but time is more money so don't trade time for money.
If you are using an auto-scrubber, good for you. It will take you much less time because the rinsing portion of the project is built in and will save you the step of cleaning up the fine dust that the upright machine generates. Although this can become a bit of a mess to clean up, it is still a lot easier that using traditional stripping methods. I would advise using a backpack vacuum attachment for the upright versions to reduce the amount of dust that escapes the machine. They don't stop it all, but will greatly reduce the free floating dust.
That is pretty much it. No mess or fuss. Just scrub the floor with the square scrubber, clean up an residue or dust and start applying floor finish. No rinsing, no neutralizing or worry about if it is stripped all the way. Less time. Less materials. More money and time for you.
